How to log water without opening an app
Short answer: On iPhone you can log water from an interactive Home Screen widget, a Control Center button, a Siri phrase, a Shortcuts automation or an Apple Watch, without opening the app. With Dropkin, each of these logs your usual drink in one step and updates the app, widgets and Watch together.

1. Home Screen widget
Add a Dropkin widget: touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose Dropkin. The Quick Log widget has buttons that log without opening the app; other styles (Vessel, Minimal, Flow and the world widget) show today's progress at a glance. Widgets refresh on a schedule iOS manages, so they show a recent snapshot rather than a live animation.
2. Control Center
On iOS 18 and later, open Control Center, tap + to add a control and search for Dropkin. The Log Water control adds your usual drink from anywhere, even inside another app.
3. Siri
Dropkin's App Shortcuts work as soon as the app is installed. Try saying:
- "Log my water in Dropkin"
- "Log my bottle in Dropkin"
- "How's my water in Dropkin"
- "Open the water in Dropkin"
4. Shortcuts and automations
In the Shortcuts app, Dropkin offers Log Water (with an amount), Log Favorite Vessel, Get Today's Progress and Open Water. Put Log Favorite Vessel on the Action button, or build a personal automation, for example logging a glass when you arrive at work. Automations run the action for you, so only set them up for drinks you really have.
5. Apple Watch
The Watch app puts your usual drink on one big button, with quick amounts and a Digital Crown custom amount. It works even when your iPhone is out of range.
Will logging from several places double count?
It shouldn't. In Dropkin every drink gets a unique ID wherever it's logged, and repeat taps of the same amount within a second are treated as one. If something does look wrong, History lets you edit or delete any entry.

How do I log water using Siri?
Install Dropkin, then say "Log my water in Dropkin" or "Log my bottle in Dropkin". No setup is needed.
Can I log water from the Lock Screen?
Dropkin's Lock Screen widgets show today's progress, and the Control Center control can log your usual drink without unlocking into the app.
Do widgets update in real time?
No widget does. iOS refreshes widgets on its own schedule. Dropkin refreshes them right after each log so the total stays current.
